Small Groups
Small groups are one of the ways we experience community at PVUMC. This is where we care, grow, reach and serve.
Before visiting a group be sure to contact the leader or hosts to verify time and location, except for Sunday morning groups.
Grow Groups
Groups for Children and Youth...
111. Kingdom Kids.
Children through 5th grade are dismissed to Kids' Worship following Children's Time at each service. Serves as Sunday School at 9:45 and 11:00am. Different topics offered during each hour. Rooms 201 & 203. Coordinator: Lynn Straughan, 806-4508.
112. C.I.A. Children In Action.
Kids put their actions to work through music, skits, crafts, and mission outreach. Children Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to join the fun. Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Rooms 201 & 203. Resumes September 8. Leaders: Jill Bennett, 285-2134 and Lynn Straughan, 806-4508.
115. Youth Class.
Students in grades 6 - 12 meet Sundays at 11:00am in Rooms 210 & 211. Leader: Kelly Minter, 280-5141.
117. Youth Group H2O.
Students in grades 6 - 12 meet Sundays from 5:30 - 8:00pm to grow in their faith in Christ. Meal provided. Leader: Kelly Minter, 280-5141.
118. YCAM Youth Creative Arts Ministry.
Students in grades 6 - 12 meet Wednesdays from 6:00 - 8:00pm in Rooms 210 & 211 to utilize the creative arts in bringing praise to God. Resumes September 11. Leader: Scott Tinsley, 280-5141.

142. Cornerstone Class.
Meets Sundays at 10:45am in Room 207. Leaders: Don & Ellen Carson.
143. Shepherds.
Meets Sunday mornings at varying times in Room 205. Leaders: Bruce and Alice Morris.
151. Planters.
This small group meets at 4:30 each Monday in a home in The Plantation. Resumes this fall.
152. Traveling Tuesdays.
Meets in various homes each Tuesday at 7:00pm. Contact: Dotty Rashba, 273-0527.
161. Crown.
Ten week in-depth small group study examines what scripture teaches about money and possessions. Learn to practically apply financial principles from the Bible to your life. New group will meet Sundays, 4:00 - 6:00pm from September 12 through November 14. Leader: Ralph Snyder.
Serve Groups
201. Usher/Greeters, 9:30.
Arrives 30 minutes before worship and ensures that everyone is warmly welcomed. Hands out bulletins, answer questions, distribute and receive collection plates during the offering. 9:30 service leader: Max Stanley, 285-2946.
202. Usher/Greeters, 11:00.
Arrives 30 minutes before worship and ensures that everyone is warmly welcomed. Hands out bulletins, answer questions, distribute and receive collection plates during the offering. 11:00 service leader: Jim Wynn, 285-2157.
203. Communion Servers, 9:30.
Helps serve communion on communion Sunday. 9:30 service leader: Rita Andreu, 273-9342.

211. Traditional Choir.
GodSong sings in the 11:00 traditional service. Rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:00pm. Resumes August 8. Contact Diane Wright, 280-5141.
212. Praise Choir.
Sings with the Praise Band and Team in the contemporary service. Rehearses on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. Resumes August 3. Contact Scott Tinsley, 280-5141.
221. Church Works.
Assists with phone coverage, printing and various other office duties. Leader: Sue Morris, 285-0071.
222. Counters.
Tallies and records the weekly offering. Leader: Gloria Myers. Contact the church office, 280-5141.
231. Hospitality.
Volunteers who enjoy food preparation and decorating to help with various liturgical and social activites including preparing communion elements and refreshments for hymn sings, new member orientations, etc. Leaders: Georgia de Roziere, 686-1761 and Phyllis Monie, 280-7327.
251. Soup Kitchen.
Prepares and serves a meal the second Sunday of every other month. Presently full but we're watching for additional opportunities. Leader: Brett Merrill, 273-4593.
252. Soup Kitchen.
Prepares and serves a meal from 10:30am - 1:00pm every 5th Monday. Leader: Jill Bennett, 285-2134.
253. HartFelt Ministries.
Trained volunteers are matched with those struggling to maintain their independence, privacy, and identity - to enable them to "age in place" with dignity. Contact Loree Reed, 285-8796.
Care Groups
351. Stephen Ministry.
Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one ministry by trained, caring lay ministers for those who are stressed, grieving, hospitalized, terminally ill, lonely or isolated, in a spiritual crisis, in a strained relationship, or in a job or financial crisis. Each Stephen Minister completes 50 hours of training. A Stephen Minister is available to help you; call Pastor Jeff at 280-5141.
Reach Groups
401. La Sierra.
Supports our sister church in Cuba with prayer and action as part of the United Methodist Church's Cuba-Florida Covenant. Contact George Reed, 285-8796.
